The Treatment

Aromatherapy and how it works

Aromatherapy is a holistic therapy that has roots in the most ancient healing practices of mankind. Using the power of pure essential oils, specifically blended to your requirements, aromatherapy activates the sense of smell and as the oils are absorbed by the skin during massage, balance is naturally restored to body and mind.

The oils contain aromatic essences with distinctive therapeutic, physiological and psychological properties, which assist the body’s natural functioning and prevent illness. Most of the oils have pure antiseptic properties; others are anti-viral, anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving, uplifting, or relaxing, which will enhance your physical and emotional well-being.

During your massage treatment the aromas from the essential oils work on the brain and nervous system and can improve your mood, alleviate fatigue, reduce anxiety and promote relaxation.

These natural oils, in conjunction with specific massage techniques, deliver complete relaxation and therapeutic benefits making for a healing and holistic experience. Together they enhance the circulation of blood and lymph, alleviate tension and fatigue from muscles and invigorate the entire body by promoting a sense of overall well-being.

Who Can Benefit From Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy massage is helpful in the treatment of many conditions including stress related or chronic conditions. It is suitable for people of all ages, from tiny babies to the elderly, men and women. Everyone can benefit from an aromatherapy treatment whether your health requires improvement or you’re using it as a preventative measure.

The results of aromatherapy are very individual. No two persons are effected by the same essential oil in exactly the same way.

It has been found to be particularly helpful for the following conditions:

» Anxiety, stress, depression and nervous tension
» Fatigue (including chronic) and ME
» Insomnia and poor sleep patterns
» Headaches and migraines
» Low immunity system
» Menstrual problems, pregnancy and menopause
» Poor circulation
» High blood pressure
» Respiratory conditions including asthma and sinusitis
» Muscular aches and pains, back pain and achy joints
» Skin conditions and skin care (e.g. eczema, acne and allergies)

Aromatherapy is very effective for those suffering from chronic conditions and are undergoing medical treatment.

Although it is not a replacement for traditional health care it is very beneficial in working along side it and supporting the healing process.

What should I expect from my first treatment?

The first treatment will last approximately 1.5 hours and includes a consultation prior to your massage. You will be asked detailed questions about your life in general, your work, state of health and medical history so that a combination of oils can be prepared to best suit your needs.

Each treatment is unique and individual and all information will be kept entirely confidential.

Once the oils have been blended, they will be applied to the skin via a massage treatment. If you are currently receiving medical treatment or have issues regarding your health, you are advised to consult your GP before your first aromatherapy treatment.
